Senior Center Hosts a Luau!

1. A near-capacity crowd—all appropriately attired in bright colors—turned out for
the event. Shirley Defever, center front, seems to be having a fun time.

Bouquet Canyon Seniors Apartment complex was the place to be on October 17!
Residents were joined by their peers from Canyon Country Seniors and Castaic
Lake Senior Village residents for the party hosted by Senior Center Director of
Volunteers and Recreation Robin Clough. Activities included an appearance by
our Helen Walker Line Dancers, a Hawaiian Bird Game in which participants
donned colorful and creative “bird” hats made by Bob Canham, the best dressed
“Big Kahuna” and “Gidget,” and more!

2. Marge Onofre, left rear, and Connie Sphar, right
greeted guests with by offering Mai Tai’s.

3. SCV Senior Center Charitable Foundation member Michael
Schreiner, chef and owner of Be A Guest at Your Own Party,
prepared a veritable “island feast”—a treat for the eyes as
well as the palate!

4. Beleu Leva was one of the authentically attired guests.

5. Tess Carlos sponsored three lovely Hula dancers
who, following their performance got guests up on
the floor and taught basic steps to willing guests.

6. Visitors from Canyon Country Seniors and Castaic
Lake Senior Village, transported to the party in Senior
Center buses, participate in “Pass the Coconut.”
